Quick Fire Blog Hop Links

I'm not alone in my love of Erin Prais-Hintz's beautiful and clever necklace design, Toast of the Town Necklace. When she let me know she was hosting a blog hop, I was excited to play along!

I started out by choosing the toggle. I had this one at home already, and its hole was large enough to accomodate the two strands of beads that needed to go through it. Another fun idea would be to find a donut or other ring for the loop here. I think a great art bead would be wonderful! This one from Green Girl Studios is gorgeous! I can't wait to unpack my favorite art beads when my new studio is habitable!

Then I chose a mix of small multi-metal rounds to use as a base. When I looked through my stash the blues of the turquoise dyed howlite beads realled called to me. Who am I kidding, those ALWAYS call to me! I think I'd use turquoise or some form of the color in every design if I could have my way.

Then I just looked for more beads that followed these two themes: mixed metal with a focus on brass, and turquoise to darker green turquoise. The coin shaped beads are actually plastic, but you'd never know just by looking at them. All of the beads as well as the are from Halcraft's Bead Gallery line that you can find at Michaels Stores all over North America, although sadly the closest one to me is about an hour away.

Stringing didn't take very long, and I just went with repetitive patterns. Here is a list of links to all of those who played along! Thanks, Erin for hosting!

  4. Thanks, everyone! This blog hop was so much fun. I can't wait to do another. :) Holly, I think you're right about the Egyptian vibe; there's something about that dark greenish stone mixed with the turquoise and metals...
